For a while, you could find me feeling sorry for myself because my next book won’t be out until 2012. But then I remembered that I have the best job in the world, I have one book out already, one that’s almost done (the YA that comes out in 2012), something secret in the works, and a very new and exciting idea for a third young adult novel. And on top of all that, I don’t have to leave the house to go to work!

I felt kind of stupid for moaning after I remembered all that. And that’s the just the business blessings. I also have a fabulous husband, two gorgeous cats, lots of friends, and a wonderful family. Oh, and I live in a great place. So you…you know…it was actually kind of embarrassing that I ever whinged about it at all.

I think part of it was I needed some time off. So after handing in my edits for The Right & the Real on December 10th, I’ve been on vacation. And after a few days of reading and cooking, something wonderful occurred to me…something truly fantastic! Without a book coming out in 2011, and Restoring Harmony successfully launched, there is nothing to do this year but WRITE. Oh, sure, I’ll do the odd interview, or blog post on someone’s site. And maybe if RH comes out in paperback, there will be a short spurt of publicity to do, but generally, 2011 is lining up to be a writing year. And that’s why I got into this business anyway, isn’t it? Yes! Yes, it is. Suddenly, I’m feeling so excited. So if you don’t see me around here a lot, and I’m not tweeting too much, well, it’s because This is the Year of the Writing. I hope your year is filled with whatever makes you happy!

P.S. Yes, I know this is probably a more appropriate post for January 1st, but after several weeks off, I’m actually ready to dive into something new, so I’m starting my writing year a week early!
