I saw in the trades that author Zilpha Keatley Snyder passed away. I have a soft spot for her although I’ve read very few of her books because they’re scary, dark, and definitely not my thing. If you know me, you’re probably surprised I’ve read anything by her. But she wrote a lovely, slightly mysterious, and ultimately exciting book called THE VELVET ROOM, which I read as a kid and re-read every so often (I think I’ll read it again). It’s one of those favourite books from childhood. As an adult, I discovered she’d written loads of books and picked up one of her most famous ones, THE EGYPT GAME only to discover it was horrible, violent and frightening. That pretty much cured me of trying any of her others. But I understand she has a loyal following and I definitely think of her fondly because of TVR. So, adieu to Zilpha Keatly Snyder, and thank you for one of my favourite books.*
*I see the ebook is only $1.78. You should buy it!
