Last weekend my husband and I traveled down to Victoria and stayed with the Tradewell clan. We all went to my signing/event at Tall Tales Books on Saturday, which was great fun! I did my presentation, and Sarah and Victor played music from the book (you can hear it on the music page, if you haven’t already), and then I talked a bit more and did a reading.
Drew and Kate, the owners of the lovely bookstore (if you’re visiting Victoria, check it out!), were so nice. Not only did they have a fabulous display of Restoring Harmony set up for me to stand in front of, making me look like a rockstar, but there were cookies! And the husband informed me just in the nick of time that the macaroons were the best. By just in the nick of time, I mean, before he ate them all and I could still get one.
I met some wonderful book-lovers, including Erinne, a young teen writer who has already completed a draft of her first novel! Erinne, if you’re reading this, I’m way impressed. When I was in high school, I wrote a 5 paragraph essay and was so happy I wasn’t in the advanced class where they wrote 5 PAGE essays. Erinne’s first draft weighs in at 26k words. Yeah! Really! Way to go Erinne.
I also met a few people that came because they heard the CBC review. I’d thank them by name, but I’d have to get up to retrieve my notebook and that would mean disturbing the cat. Never disturb the cat if you can help it because they get revenge when you’re sleeping.
Today is my last planned event for a while. I’m over at the school, giving my presentation to the Grade 6-7 classes. While Sarah had to be at school herself and couldn’t come along, I am taking the wonderful husband with me to play some guitar and sing. Should be fun.
Thanks to everyone who came to any of my book events, and thank you to all the bloggers who continue to post reviews and interviews about me and my book. Like this one, for example, over at Ten Stories Up. I love this interview because Lindsey’s questions were so good. For those of you writers out there, you might remember Lindsey from the guest post she did over at The Intern’s site about the secret of bookstore sales a few months ago.
Again, thank you all!
Oh, that sounds like so much fun. If I had been there, I totally would’ve gotten to the macaroons before Victor. They call my name. I love that music is such a part of your book as well as your signings. So wonderful!
What a wonderful sounding day! Glad it turned out so well…congrats. LOVE the kitty pic, lol.
I love the photo of the Bad Kitty! Be nice to that little cat, or else. And congratulations on all your events, Joelle.
