And now for something a little different! Today, instead of interviewing an author, I’m interviewing the book blogger (and teen), The Bookologist. She’s got a wonderful site and if you want to know about what’s hot in YA, she’s your girl. Also, her sister (who I will interview once school’s out), The Undercover Book Lover, has a great blog too.
We first met when my editor sent her a bound copy of my book (pre-ARCs) because she felt The Bookologist wrote such a great blog, she’d be a good teen to get a sneak peek. In full disclosure, The Bookologist loves Restoring Harmony, but the real reason I’m interviewing her is because over the last six months, we’ve become quite good friends. We exchange regular emails, advising each other (I’ve given her tips on how to go to bed before 3am – turn off the computer, get into bed, shut your eyes) and she’s added RH to her international blog tour and suggested some great bloggers for me to send ARCs to.
So without further ado, here she is in her own words. While she’s done tons of author interviews, this is her first ever interview!
Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Mavie and I run The Bookologist! I have a sister, Reggie, and she runs The Undercover Book Lover. Let’s state the obvious, I love books! I can’t live without books. I also love sports and music.
1) Do you speak any foreign languages?
Yes, I do. Apart from English, I can speak two other languages fluently; Chinese and Tagalog. Chinese is pretty hard!
2) What are you reading now?
I’m reading Linger by Maggie Stiefvater. Amazing so far. Ever since I read Shiver, I wanted to read Linger already. I really do miss Sam! 🙂
3) What are your hobbies that don’t have to do with reading?
I have a lot! I’ll just list a few. For sports, I love swimming, especially badminton. I love badminton, and I play it almost every day, it’s practically my exercise! Apart from sports, I also do crochet, it’s pretty fun!
4) What’s the coolest blog-thing that’s happened to you since you started your blog?
The coolest thing so far was to get in contact with authors, publishers, and publicists. Never in my life would I have thought of actually talking/emailing them! Although, that’s not the only ‘cool’ thing about blogging, there’s many more!
5) Go on, give us some blogging advice. You know you want to!
Be yourself. Don’t let the haters come to you. Have fun. That to me, is the best advice.
Thank you to Joelle for interviewing me!
Oooh does this mean your book is going to be part of International book tours? Nice interview, I’m aware of the blog and it’s great 🙂
Great interview! I follow the Bookologist and enjoyed learning more about you, Mavie!
Hi Mavie, I follow The Bookologist and enjoy your postings. I also follow your sisters blog. I enjoyed your interview.
Thanks Joelle for have Mavie chat on your blog.
Amazing interview! it’s nice to know so more about Mavie. I had no idea Reggie was her sister!
Excellent interview! And great blogging advice 🙂
THANK YOU SO MUCH, Joelle! I’m so glad to be featured on one of your ‘Wild Card Wednesday’s!” Yay! Also, thanks to Kim, Annika, and Stacey for their kind words. 🙂
Even though I’ve told you this a million times, Restoring Harmony. is. amazing.
Wow! I had no idea Mavie spoke Chinese and Tagalog as well. Mavie and her sister never cease to amaze me. Truly. Great interview!
Mavie seems lovely! I so so so wish blogs had existed when I was a teenager.
What a great idea, to interview a blogger! It sounds like Mavie has a great blog! I’ll pop over to check it out.
