Well, truth be told, I’ve mostly been writing, so even though I haven’t posted in a while, I don’t have a lot of books to write about.
HOPE WAS HERE by Joan Bauer – She’s a great writer. This wasn’t my favorite of the ones I’ve read, but it was good. You certainly couldn’t go wrong reading it. Oh, and a quick note about BACKWATER which was the last post before this one, hubby read it and thought it was one of the best YAs he’s ever read. For the record, STARGIRL, LOOKING FOR ALASKA, and HERE LIES THE LIBRARIAN are a few of his other favorites. He’s reading BUD, NOT BUDDY right now and liking it a lot too.
SCARLETT by Cathy Cassidy – I really, really liked this one. It’s true that I’m a huge CC fan anyway, but this one was particularly good. All her books that I’ve read deal with kids in unstable situations and yet they’re all very hopeful, this one was the most hopeful of them all. I highly recommend this book.
And that’s it! I know…what have I been doing all this time if this is all I have to talk about? Writing. I did start reading another YA that I really, really wanted to like, but you know, I haven’t picked it up in three days. I think that’s why I haven’t read much lately even though I finished my WIP over the past weekend. I can’t start reading something new unless I officially give it up (I’m a serial monogomous reader). Terrible books are easy for me to put down, but there’s nothing much wrong with this one except I don’t find it interesting. I think it’s time to let it go…
So there you go! Read anything good lately?
