Set on a Wisconsin Dairy farm, this book has a truly authentic (or what I imagine to be authentic, since I’ve never been on a Wisconsin Dairy farm) voice and setting. Small town life is depicted in a way that makes sense – some like it, some want out, some aren’t sure. I like that because so often when you read about small town America, the only thing the character wants is to get out of town as soon as possible. This has a nice mix and that’s not the plot anyway, family and communication are the topics of interest. Oh, and did I mention it’s one of the funniest, in the most understated way possible, books I’ve read since…well, since the last time I said that, which really was probably just a few days ago because I’ve been reading a lot of funny stuff, but anyway…it’s very funny. The second book is more of the same good stuff. I read it in one sitting because it was pretty exciting. And the best news is there’s a third book scheduled!
