I woke up to excellent birthday news yesterday! Remember those Scholastic book fairs you went to in school? The ones where the gym was filled with tables and tables full of BOOKS! Books that your parents gave you money to buy! Books, books, and more books!
And remember those order forms they’d send home periodically with books to choose from? Also, adorable posters of kittens hanging by one paw with sayings like, “Hang in there!”? By the time I got off the bus, my order form would be all filled out with about $20 worth of books. This was 1977 though and my mom would laugh and say, “Uh…try again. You get five bucks.”
You know where this is going, right? YES! Scholastic has picked up the rights to Restoring Harmony and next fall it will be included in their teen catalogue! Whooohooo! Yipppeee! Yahooo!! I’ve made it big now, baby!
All in all, I had a wonderful birthday, but this is the news I woke up to in my inbox from my editor, so it got off to a roaring good start. Speaking of birthdays, don’t forget to scroll down and enter to win my contest. I’m giving away an RH totebag. And then click on over to Deb Marshall’s site because she’s giving away a copy of the book.
OH! And speaking of birthdays, today is my lovely friend Eileen Cook‘s book birthday. Help welcome her new middle grade novel, Fourth Grade Fairy into the world by popping into your favourite indie book store and buying it! It’s a very fun read. Congratulations, Eileen!
Joelle, this is such wonderful, awesome news!!! Book fairs were my favorite part of elementary school. Seriously! 🙂 I’m so happy for you!
My friend the SCHOOL librarian, I should add. She sees the kids go nuts for those books all the time.
That’s HUGE!!!! My friend the librarian tells me that those books sell like WILD!!! This is going to be enormous for RH, and I’m so excited for you!!!!!
