Story Development
When you’re starting out as a writer, or even if you’ve been at it for a while, it’s always useful to get some feedback because you can’t work in an abyss.
Wouldn’t it be great if that little voice who sits next to you when you’re creating your masterpiece was more of a friendly cheerleader than a critic, but still offered great advice? See below for more details about story development coaching, and contact me to discuss availability.
Story Development Manuscript Coaching
Writing can definitely feel like a lonely process, so let’s work together! You’ve poured yourself into this book and actually finished it, and I hope you celebrated. I mean, how cool is that? Hardly anyone who says they want to write a book really does it. You’re pretty exceptional already, but chances are you want to improve this manuscript before it goes out into the world, and yet you’ve already done just about everything you can think of doing. That’s where I come in. Let’s work together on it. I’ll sit with your manuscript in my big comfy reading chair and give it the attention it deserves.
And then we’ll talk about it. For 75-90 minutes. Doesn’t that sound like fun? I think so!
Price: $5 per page (double spaced, size 12 font, 100 page minimum)
These are the genres I work in: Middle Grade, Young Adult, Contemporary Romance, Women’s Fiction, Memoir, and Fantasy on a book-by-book basis. Am I just picky? Nope! But I don’t read Thrillers, Horror, Sci-fi, or anything too dark, so if that’s what you write, I’m probably not a good fit (I know some people who are, though, so feel free to ask me for referrals)
What people are saying about working with Joëlle
Joëlle has the rare combination of a writer’s eye and an editor’s mind. She is great at finding problems in a manuscript and suggesting ways to solve them. Always honest, but forever tactful, Joëlle is a pleasure to work with.

Working with Joëlle was a brilliant experience. She has an excellent eye for detail and can pinpoint ways to turn a good scene into a great scene.

What makes Joëlle so unique as a writing mentor is that she doesn’t try to elevate herself above anyone. She is right there BESIDE you, looking you straight in the eye, holding your hand if you need it, guiding you to resources to help your journey, and whacking you on the side of the head if you’re being lazy.
— Christy Dunsmore writer, artist, fine arts instructor
