secretary_~vl0007b067This was a great week. On Monday, my Administrative Assistant, Kelly, and I went to Victoria to stay with Sarah Tradewell and her family. Just so you know, as my unpaid AA, Kelly will drive, but won’t carry my bags. She wants a full salary before she’ll lift anything heavier than a smoothie, and I think even then, she’ll probably hire her sister Nicole to carry my things for me. Kelly’s big on delegation. And an excellent driver, by the way, in spite of her habit of swerving towards McDonalds every time she sees one.

As a vegetarian, I have to shout, “No! Kelly! No! Bad AA!” and then she regains control. At least until she drops me off somewhere and can sneak off to the drive-through.

Anyway, while in Victoria, we stopped at Munro’s, Bolen Books, and in Sydney at Tanner’s Books and I signed stock. So if you can’t come to my signing this weekend at Tall Tales Books in Victoria, but you live in the area, you should be able to pick up a signed book if you want one. But I do hope you can come, as Sarah will be playing fiddle and it will be very fun indeed!

On Tuesday, my AA and I took the ferry to Galiano Island where we received a warm welcome at Galiano Island Books. I have to say, this is a magnificent bookstore and Lee and Soenaid couldn’t have been nicer. Lee even gave me a copy of the sequel to The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, which I am devouring.

If you didn’t hear the review of RH on the CBC yet, it’s up on my home page and it’s pretty cool. Very, very cool actually. And thanks to Bob Cook, it no longer has a two and a half minute weather report at the beginning!

As usual (but for only a few more months!), I’m over at The Debutante Ball. Don’t forget we’re taking applications for the next group of Debs, so if you have a debut book coming out, and you’re of the female persuasion, you should apply! The details are on the site. It’s lots and lots of fun!

I’m also over at fellow Canadian writer Elle Strauss’ website doing an interview if you want to check it out.

I am sooooo forgetting someone or something. I will add it if I think of it. Now all I can think about is getting back to my book. So if I forgot you, take it up with the wonderful people at Galiano Books and Alan Bradley!
