Anyone in the biz, and anyone interested in the biz (the biz being young adult books), is probably up on the whole Washington Street Journal story from last week about dark YA and how it’s harming our children. I’m actually going to refrain from commenting, for a whole variety of reasons. However, our local librarian showed me this article from the National Post (Canada) last week, and I thought I’d share the link because it’s definitely a different take than the WSJ article, and yet covers the same issue – dark YA.

Feel free to comment, but as Sara Zarr said on twitter: I just think that by getting too involved on one side or other, we participate in perpetuating idea that we are in it [writing YA/books] to send messages.

Yeah, what she said.
