pretty fair maid To celebrate the release of my book trailer and new website, I decided to have a giveaway this week instead of the usual fare.

A few years ago, my husband went to American Fiddle Tunes (a week-long workshop in Washington) and while he was there he met the young cello player, Emma Beaton, and her mother, fiddler Joyce Beaton. It turned out that they were from BC and lived very near where we intended to move to. Since we’ve been here, we’ve reconnected with them and have shared lots of great music.

The music on the trailer is a traditional tune called McGivnie’s Fancy and the recording I used comes from Emma & Celtic Chaos’s CD Pretty Fair Maid. Emma and Joyce generously allowed me to use it for the trailer.

I have to say this CD is one of my all time favourite CDs. I can listen to it over and over again. While Emma has moved to the US, we’re still lucky enough to hear her play occasionally when she comes home. Check out her website to find out more about her and the band she is lead singer for, Joy Kills Sorrow.

Here’s how to win Emma’s CD:

1. Leave a comment = 1 entry

2. Tweet about the contest on Twitter. Make sure to include the hashtag #RestoringHarmonyContest = 2 entries

3. Embed the trailer into your blog or on your website = 10 entries, make sure you leave a link in the comments

The contest runs until midnight Pacific time, Saturday April 10th. I’ll draw a winner and announce it next Monday. Thanks for playing, and thanks for celebrating great music with me.
